Intro

Federal and Congressional leadership plays a critical role in strengthening and expanding the nation’s apprenticeship system. AFA works with leaders in Congress and federal agencies to modernize apprenticeship policy, expand employer participation, and build stronger talent pipelines for America’s economy.

 

Key Congressional Legislation to Advance Registered Apprenticeships

H.R. 6725, On-the-Job Earn While You Learn Training and Apprenticeships for African Americans Act
Would expand apprenticeship access through partnerships with employers, workforce organizations, and community-based training programs that connect workers to high-quality career pathways.

H.R. 6445 / S. 3364, Fast Track Healthcare Apprenticeship Act 

Would accelerate the development of apprenticeship programs in healthcare occupations by clarifying registration timelines and modernizing administrative processes.

 

H.R. 4588 / S. 2028, Supporting Apprenticeship Colleges Act of 2025

Reauthorizing the National Apprenticeship Act (Forthcoming)
AFA is working with policymakers to develop a modern reauthorization of the National Apprenticeship Act that expands employer and worker participation and strengthens apprenticeship infrastructure.
